Need help completing the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and getting a handle on your data records and cyber security?

CASHC offers free support and guidance for providers in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

We’re here to support you

We’re here to support you on your data security journey as part of the national Better Security, Better Care programme, working with the Institute of Public Care at Oxford Brookes.

We can help you to understand the importance of data and cyber security, and to complete your annual, online self-assessment using the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).

As a local support partner, we can also help you to:

  • reduce the risk of suffering from cyber crime and data breaches,
  • reassure the people you support, their families and your staff that they can trust you with their data,
  • carry out your annual self-assessment of your data and cyber security arrangements using the nationally-recognised Data and Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT),
  • identify areas where you need to improve, and develop an improvement plan,
  • comply with data protection legislation and Care Quality Commission’s expectations on confidentiality and security,
  • access key services such as NHSmail and shared care record.

We deliver this support in a number of ways, including:

  • webinars
  • workshops (digital)
  • one-to-one support
  • helpdesk

Email [email protected] or call us on 01326 334232 if you have any questions about your Data Security Protection Toolkit, would like to book a one-to-one, or want to find out more about getting help.

What is the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DPST)?

As an adult social care provider, you know it’s important to have access to good information about the people you support and your staff. In order to store and share that information safely, you need to be confident that your paper and digital records are secure.

Designed to help adult social care providers to store and share information safely, DSPT covers paper and digital records. Using this tool will help you to evaluate your current data and cyber security. It will also help you to create an action plan to make any necessary changes.

Getting this sorted shows you’re following good practice – and meeting legal and regulatory requirements for data use. And that will help you to reassure:
  • the people you support,
  • their families,
  • your staff,
  • commissioners,
  • regulators,
  • health and care partners.
